We all know that New York Fashion Week is events held for the most famous designers to show off their new clothing designs for the next season. It has been stated that we receive all of our fashion trends from the coasts. Before now the estimated time for those trends to reach the Midwest was about two years. Now that we have Social Media we are able to receive the newest upcoming fashions as soon as they step on the Runway.

This past Fashion Week for the new Fashions of Spring 2015 there were 4 different Social Networks that dominated the shows. First up there was Twitter with exclusive street style images of the Celebrities attending the shows and what they were styled in of course. Twitter had it set up where if you used certain hastags during the show they will send you certain snapshots from that specific show.

Next came an app that i am unfamiliar with myself called Periscope which is Twitters live streaming application. Up to 47 videos were shared by the fashion designers that week and maybe even more as the weeks went on to other fashion weeks in different countries. It is said that up 40 years worth of videos is sent to there corporation a day to be uploaded on the app itself. Since this is a new application and not many are aware of it in the Midwest it hasn’t exploded as much. It is expected to rise over the next year and is going to be used with other major events as well.

Everyones favorite Social Media app Instagram hit the top with over 140 million likes and comments about fashion week. By using the top New York Fashion Week hastags such as, #NYFW, #FashionWeek, and #MBFW. These hastags were also used by many designers and magazines as they posted the latest pictures live from the audience. They also had a heat map to track which areas of New York people were posting pictures from with the hashtag #NYFW.

Lastly everyones favorite way to communicate Snapchatt with live pictures and videos right from the runway. They had set up something with Snapchat to have each day of the Fashion Week be on everyones feed of stories who had the app. With this we were able to see all of the footage from selective shows including some behind the scenes footage that even the audience couldn’t see.
